|
A point on the horizontal axis of a grid, scale, or page
dimension. Other term: x-axis. See also: y-coordinate.

xerography
|
An imaging method that electrostatically charges ink toner
particles, which are attracted to areas of the paper that
have been given an electrical charge. The dry toner is then
heat fused to the paper, forming an image. This is the basis
of almost all office copy machines.

x-height
|
The height of a type character that has no ascenders or descenders
(e.g., a, c, e, m, o, x, and z.). Typically the height of
x and z are used as representatives of a type face family's
x-height. Other term: z-height.
|
x-line
|
The horizontal line that would indicate the top of non-ascender,
lowercase letters such as a, c, e, m, o, p, x, y, and z. Other
term: mean line.

x-y coordinates
|
A mathematical description of an element's position on a
page.
